About

Dr. Treasa Clifford, MVB

Resident in Veterinary Dermatology

Background & Education

Dr. Treasa Clifford was born and raised in County Limerick, Ireland and obtained her Veterinary Medicine degree from University College Dublin in 2016.

Postgraduate Training

After graduating, Dr. Clifford worked in a mixed animal practice in southern France before subsequently moving to Canada where she practiced in companion animal clinics in both Ontario and British Columbia. As a general practitioner, she had a keen interest in the management of long term, chronic conditions and particularly enjoyed getting to know her patient’s owners and families. She especially loved working with owners determined to find the root cause of their pet’s skin issues and seeing improvement once the underlying condition was managed.

Practice & Residency

Over the coming years, Dr. Cliford realized that dermatology was a perfect amalgamation of all that she appreciated in general practice. She finally decided to take the plunge and began looking into the path of specialization to become a board-certified veterinary dermatologist. In the summer of 2023, she left Canada in a packed U-Haul truck and relocated to a hot, humid Houston to embark on a 3-year dermatology residency at Coastal Veterinary Dermatology & Ear Clinic. Her favorite aspects of her job include building rapport with her clients and their pets, strengthening the human-animal bond, and seeing the familiar faces (both human and canine) that walk through the door.

INTERESTS & Outreach

Dr. Clifford’s professional interests include management of allergies, ear disease and laser surgery. In her spare time, she likes to stay active, boulder, bake, learn languages, travel with her husband, and watch her favorite hurling team (Limerick). Otherwise, she can be found on her couch cuddling her cat, Mose.
